Not a happy bunny: was previously told by [name withheld] that they could dial in anything on their whizzo alignment machine so I took the 'UK spec' with me (not out of tolerance) for them to add camber & caster. No mention of 'can't do that' before they start, and I told them to come find me if there was a problem with the spec...
Anyway, when the car is ready I have to ask repeatedly for the #s to verify... Turns out they've only done a check & adjust to US specs for the car... When I challenge it, the guy can't explain the #s: gets confused between camber & caster, L&R, and then says caster can't be adjusted on the S
I gave in at that point as I got what I had paid for in a sense: the S needed an adjustment on the right side (although it was done to US spec; not what I'd asked for) & they did honor the $10 coupon that took in...
Oh yeah, & I thought it was normal to check/adjust tire pressures before doing an alignment - I'll stop there
Eric came over today for a supposed 1 1/2 hour front-brake pad install (Volkswagen Passat, electronic sensors in the pads). Well that was pretty much like the blind leading the blind -- good thing, too (That way the grease was harder to see). The CV boot on his front driver's side slipped and was leaking grease all the heck over everything. The inside of his rim was coated in black goo, the brake caliper was a mess - you could hardly see where the bolts were to remove the caliper. After a roll a paper towels later, we finally figured out the job was fairly simple. His brake pads were paper thin.
Here we are - confused...
then...
WooHoo! It's an easy job!
p.s. - it took over 3 hours. But now I think I'm comfortable even doing this job on the S
