Default Having a problem with my intake system.

heyahs, i was puttin in a new koyo radiator a while back, and the thing was so big that i had to take out my airbox. i remember one (vacuum?) hose being loose when we were done. it did just go into the airbox. now i can't seem to find it anyways. my ecu is throwing a code saying something about air injection yada yada. also, sometimes when i start my car i hear a "PSHH" as if air's gettin loose somewhere. can anybody take a look at my car? i'm dumb

Based on your description, you've either hooked up a vaccum hose incorrectly, or forgot to hook one up. If our dont have the correct vacuum pressure, your ECU will generate this or similar error.

Check your PM. I've sent you something that I'm sure will help.

kOOpa,

You fixed up now? -- Sorry I've been off the board a bit -- the home computer was totally spammed with viruses, spyware, and adware. I think it's fixed now.

Are you still having trouble? I'm ready to search for pics to post otherwise...

heyah, not fixed yet. i checked all the hoses and they're all running to the right places. however, there's this little box thinger that's kind of hissing, here's a couple pictures of it.

maybe i just need to replace whatever that thing is?

Almost all of the time it's the hose routing that's screwed up.

But you said it's correctly routed, so if that's not it, I'd say make sure the hoses are tightly connected to their endpoints.

The little black thingie I believe is the Vacuum Control Valve. I don't think you should be hearing a hissing sound?? Seems weird that the control valve would go bad in between a simple disconnect/connect, though...

Oh, also, if you try a fix, I don't believe the CEL would go away right away, so i'd say reset the CEL and then try to make sure it doesn't come back

yah hoses are definitely correct, i think the control valve just decided to go bad. i reset the ecu and the check engine light came back eventually.

edit: thanks for the advice everybody, if i can ever get this stinkin thing to pass emissions, i'll actually start upgrading/coming to events!

Good luck. Ideally, it'd be nice if you could borrow somebody's valve (or test yours in someone else's car) and see what happens before shelling out the money for a new part. I thought it'd be cheap, but after looking online I was like WTF...
