I need help asap. I'm in Alabama and my s2000 is dying. My motor knocks. I was driving heard it and immediately started driving slow. When I accelerate I hear it, when off the gas it's gone then while driving slow the motor shutdown no loud noise. I pulled over, tried to restart it cranked pulled around the motor shut off again. Luckily I was by my buddies house so coasted into his neighborhood jumped out n pushed my car to his driveway. I need to drive back today(Sunday) it's 415 am. Any tips or suggestions pls. You need to read whatever codes the engine is throwing, then go from there. Good Luck.

there is no lights showing, no CEL or maintenance required light.

 

Take it you've checked the obvious: fluid levels; connections, nothing loose/missing? Do you have a CAI, and drove through some water?

 

I checked fluid levels. And my oil was low. Refilled and the knock is to me is coming from the top of the motor. I do have cai but no hydrolock. Motor still cranks every time and still no lights on the dash. When I did refill the oil the knock did quiet down.

 

just an update, still in huntsville, al. getting it towed tmw to the dealership to see whats up. did some searching on here and im starting to get nervous. people on here are saying maybe its the timing chain, and or rods. dont know what to do.

 

How many quarts of oil did it take to refill???

had to fill it up with 4 quarts.
