XVIPER has some extra words-o-wisdom (link). Did anyone here see smoke? What color? From who?

My car makes so much white smoke of the exhaust it looks like a fogger. That's what happens when you run 10:1!

I remember the conversation, but don't remember who was blowing the smoke. I do remember that the conversation lead to blue/gray smoke color. It cmay have something to do with the wonderful low octane we had to put in our tanks.

Now you've got us all worried and thinking who's was it or was it more than one. Do we all need to meet for a mini-run Saturday a.m. (later than 8am) to check each others' exhaust to see who's got the smoke?

I checked my oil level Monday morning and it was down a QT , I had checked it Thursday and it was at the top X on the dipstick, that is 1qt in 800 miles. IMHO this is caused by spirited driving as my car burns no oil during normal around town driving. I refilled and will monitor the level.

Oil consumption is usually caused by oil getting past the rings into the combustion chamber and by oil getting sucked past the valve seals under high vacuum conditions, some have even reported oil being sucked through the PCV system during hard cornering
and being burned.

I am not going to panic just yet, I will monitor the oil level very closely and I suggest everyone do the same.

On a related note the catalytic converter converts oil smoke to something else so if a car is smoking bad enough to be seen coming out the exhaust it is really smoking and oil consumption would be notice in the dropping level.

I think this should have it's own thread.
