Default Idea for a new ride.

Howdy everyone. I am kinda new here, but thought I'd share an insight with folks. Depending on my schedule this spring, I would like to plan a Spring weekend drive into the Ozarks. I really enjoy camping right next to the Jacks Fork River near Alley Spring MO, and there are some very nice roads in the area. I already have a couple friends interested in going out there for the weekend. My Dad and Brother in their black S2K, and a buddy with a 93 LT1 Vette ( nice car too). I know it is early, but just trying to gauge interest in this trip. Anyone here ever been out that way?

Am an experienced canoer (have two, a 17' aluminum Gruman & a 17' kevlar Wenonah). The Jacks Fork area is really beautiful an should be experinced by everyone.

Without sounding really "stodgy", this trip is usually frequented by younger people, with "extra coolers" if you know what I mean. All that can be fun.

Tough to travel with canoes on the S. Are you willing to make some plans for the group?

BTW, the campground at Alley Spring on the River is very nice. Mowing is always kept up, beautiful River, nice bathroom and shower facilities, and usually a pretty quiet place. For some reason I've been dying to camp with the S. Just throw a tent and a weekend of clothes in and I'm good to go. There is also a very nice general store about 1/2 mile away with very nice local owners. There are gas stations and liquor stores within about 6-10 miles in the town of Eminence too. Let me know what you guys think.

Yeah, I'm willing to make some plans. No need to bring canoes, the local general store also runs a canoe rental. It's called Harvey's Canoe Rental and General Store. I am familiar with the owners, and they are always very cool. The Current River is where all the kids go most of the time. The Jacks Fork is a little more laid back.

This sounds like a blast. Count me in.

In November or so, it will be time to plan next years activities. I will be posting up some information for us to meet and get our 2006 calendar in order. We should have a good planning meeting as last years meeting really organized this year well with some nice activities. Be looking for my post and attend if you can.
