Default Idling

Hi Friends
I own a MY01 with 9K miles on her. I noticed that when I slowed down to stop, the car stalled on me. I started it up and it was fine for about a week or 2. Then today, the same thing happened only it sounded like it was idling too low and I gave it gas and revved it up a little and it was fine and has been ok since. Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Dave

It's most likely your MAP sensor. Do you have a CAI by chance? A quick remedy would be to pop the hood and tap on it with the handle of a srewdriver. I have to do this about once every couple weeks.

I am kind of a rookie here I am not sure what that is, but I didn't do any mods, so I would have to answer NO to CAI

The MAP sensor is the little thing with a wire coming off of it right where the intake tube hits the throttle body. It says MAP on the side or top. If you can't find it I'll take a pic for you.

Great, thank you. I will look for it. You mentioned that I should tap it. Is this something that I will need to replace?

folex187 just referred to the "MAP whack". Here's a link with a decent picture of the MAP sensor link.

I have not had this problem, you are using premium fuel right?

I agree that it is probably the MAP sensor. You may have gotten some crappy fuel as well. Do you always fill up at the same gas station or at different places?

If we remove the granny slack in your excellarator cable, this will help some also. Next time I see you, I can to this 30 second fix for you.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. Yes, I always use premium unleaded gas and I usually go to Shell or Mobil.
