We need to institute some kind of mandatory jail time for these careless accidents. I bet if some of these people had to spend 48 hours in lockup after a careless accident people would be a lot more attentive and many lives would be saved.
Better to institute tougher driving tests, & enforce laws about driving w/ 'due care & attention': no cell-phone usage unless hands-free, no make-up application or doing hair, or reading while driving - seen all too many times over to be surprised anymore...

The laws are there but I only see cops acting on the 'straightfwd' ticket/conviction stuff such as speeding or DUI

Driving should be considered a privilege that can & should be taken away in some cases, not a right!

That's my 2nd rant for the day - on a roll

Insurance rates should reflect the risk associated w/ being a negligent driver too...

Crap...Sorry this had to happen to you. Glad to hear you are OK. Are you planning on going to the chiroprator just in case. Even though you're not hurting today, you may be hurting in a week. It may be $$$ well spent. If it had to happen I'm glad it was the truck, cause the S would not have survived a 45mph impact as well.

If she hit you going 45 and the skid marks were 30 ft, how fast was she going in the first place

Keep us posted - Glad you're OK.

45mph? Crap! Good job she didn't do more damage - trust your neck will be OK.

Between you & Nick, we don't need any more of these threads.

What was your approximate speed at the time of impact? Any airbags deployed?

I was at a complete stop at the point of impact. I let off the brake when she hit me to ease the damage

Adjuster comes over today to do the estimate. The estimate from the repair shop was just a little over 2000. Mostly cosmetic damage. I was lucky as her bumper went above the frame

Neck is feeling better today but still pretty sore. I have a follow up with the dr on monday.

Thank you all for the well wishes.
