Default new intake

well, my dang intake pipe (stock black plastic pipe) got a crack so i had to replace it. the only reasonable options i saw were AEM and Fujita. did some researching and found that a whole lot of the guys over at S2KCA swear by the Fujita cold air intake, and now i know why!

granted, my old pipe was cracked, but my car is pulling wayyyyyeeeee harder than it ever has, sounds like satan is coming for you, and the intake looks great. no pics as of yet, i spent the little bit of daylight i could get in last night and from 5:30 to 7:30 this morning installing, so i was pretty tired and didn't even think of takin pictures. it barely fit with my dang koyo radiator, but with a little wriggling around i finally made it work.

i very highly reccomend this intake, and if anybody decides to get it i'll be happy to help out on the install (even tho great directions were supplied, it always helps to have someone who's done the job before). the most frustrating part of install was pulling off the old hoses to be replaced with the new ones supplied (two vacuum hoses, the main hose from the intake to the head, and the coolant line from the block to the throttle body).

apparently the only potential problem from this mod is hydrolock (a bunch of water going into your engine cuz of the intake filter being submerged, pretty unlikely but possible), but this problem is eliminated with an AEM bypass valve that i have yet to purchase.

anyways, sorry for the long post, and i'll get pics up tomorrow!

Though, after struggling for too much time trying to get them off, it hit me that a knife would take those hoses off in a matter of seconds and then the rest was a breeze.

Congrats on the new intake!

kOOpA - it looks just like my Injen. I see it's a two piece, also. I'll bet that made it tons easier to slip into position! Talk about a tight fit!

SAWEEET!

p.s. I panicked about hydrolock for a long time. Just watch for standing water, and you'll be fine. Were you able to trim the wheel well close to the intake pipe? I assume the air filter is placed inside your front bumper.

how difficult was it to install. i am looking at either this brand or aem V2 intake. they both look similar but the aem you have to cut part of the car for the tube to go behind the rear bumper. did you have to do that or any other mods for proper instillation.

i have to order the part first. i have read a lot regarding what to get, short vs. cai, injen vs fujita vs aem. they are all priced around the same, within 20 or so bucks but i am obvisually looking at performance as well as sound that it will make.

ryan & welcome!

Best advice about sound is to hear them side-by-side, in person. Any chance you can make the Napleton event? I'm sure there will be "a few" intakes to compare, there! Do your research on HP gains, installation needs, etc., then let your budget, personal preference, and remaining considerations help you with your final decision.

i usually work on saturdays until 7 in town and country. i am trying to get a new shift, with weekends off. maybe i can take a half day or something to meet everyone. i read the post but didnt see a time. is it an all day event? by that time i might have already made my decision on the part. but being a new owner, and only now realizing of the potential for the S2000, any suggestions, mods, what to do first, would be helpful. anything from care to the car, engine mods, interior, stereo, anything and everything i would love to know. thanks for the great response from everyone.
