Default Painting

I'm looking to a paint a few pieces, but am not an expert in OEM style auto finishing. Does anyone know if there is a place locally that can get me a bucket of paint that matches Honda color codes?

I've got a compressor, spray gun, and space to paint. What else do I need? I assume some sort of clear coat? How much (in relation to the paint)? Anything else? Anyone here ever painted body panels before?

Thanks guys!

What color are you wanting to match?

Berlina Black. It doesn't need to match an existing paint job.

I painted the fenders and hood on a 240sx I had a while back. I used brush on black primer and alot of sandpaper. I used a couple of spray cans on each body part. Same with the clearcoat. The only difference I see is that I didnt care what type of paint was used so i grabbed some spray paint from autozone as well as clear coat. I waited anywhere from 20minutes to and hour between each coat. Not sure how much this helps but hopefully it does.

If it is only a few body panels I would run them to an autobody shop and have them painted and clearcoated. It shouldnt be much per panel.

David, PM or post this on the STLPC. Mark (mstewar) has experience in painting and where to get the paint.

Suggested items:

HVLP Gun
Line evaporator/filter
Primer
Base coat
Clear coat
Fish eye eliminator
Paint hardener

I used to use Dupont product but I'm sure I'm out of the loop now.

Paint booth (Local Community College may have an autobody class that gives you full access to all the equipment and advise.)
I did this in Florida back many moons ago and was able to do all my bodywork and spray work for little cost. Many of the guys in the class brought in a new car every week and basically ran a business out of the community college.

A small storage unit with makeshift booth- Plastic wrap and PVC, air intake filter and filter for the exhaust. Box Fan for air flow.
