rpms are surging rapidly up and down, during idle and when giving it gas. threatens to stall... i am afraid to drive it.

Just because I do not know I would say take it to a Honda Dealership. But I do find that you get more help on a site about just our cars, than any where else!

Yes, that would have been nice. I have no wd40 though, and no socket now I think the air valve assy/egr could also be clogged.

I reset the ecu and no change. Andrew said he would give me his mechanic's number, so I guess I shall call him tomorrow.

Yeah for real, i find out a hell of alot more remedies to problems from specific car forums than i do the mechanics themselves. I owe NASIOC.com for all my subaru needs.

Clean your Idle Air Control Valve. Mine was doing this as well. It is really easy.
