Thinking of relocating to the ATL area..

In need of help! I'm trying to relocate to Garden City, GA. I will be moving with my wife and kid. I'm trying to find a place to rent in any near by cities from garden city. but i was wondering, what area to avoid and where is good neighbor to live in since I have a baby coming with me. I'm coming from los angeles and I know nothing about the area I'm movin to so any advise would be helpful!!

never thought id hear gwinnett as being the place to aviod. ive lived in snellville my entire life and its a nice area, never had any problems at all with crime. the newer/nicer areas are johns creek and alpharetta
