WTB or need advice: soft top
*Edit*
Well, Ive been shopping around and have decided to buy a top from one of the online stores I was referred to. I have also been shopping around different places for a good price on installing the top. however, none of the prices were anything I can afford right now, so I was wondering if the ATL crew was going to have a "tech day" or something of the sorts where I might be able to get some help installing my new top. Since I neither have tools or a garage, installing at my place wouldn't seem very smart.
Is there anyone that would be willing to help me install my new top? I can provide the food, beer, etc.
Thanks,
TonyJ
Well, I realized that I had 3 tears in my 2001 soft top. The last one being the worst. I have no idea what happened, they seem to be small rips from the usual wear and tear. Can the top be replaced through my insurance? If not, where do I go to find these things? Also, what sort of price am I looking at? I searched the vendor links posted on s2katlanta.com, but did not see any soft tops listed for purchase. Thanks in advance!!!

As for a replacement top, OEM tops run about $800 or so. There's an aftermarket top by Robbins that has a glass rear window that runs around $450. There are atleast 7 or 8 people in the club running with the robbins top right now and are very satisfied. It's made just for the 00 and the 01. Cabrioworld.com also has tops for our cars with glass rear as an option.
Here's the thread where a bunch of the Atlanta crew ordered their tops: http://www.s2katlanta.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3359
Installation can be done yourself but it takes an aweful long time (weekend job if it's just you). I'm not sure how much a shop would charge for the install. Good luck with it.
Thanks for the info....I didnt see a store number listed nor a link. Any idea if the tops are still available for that price? I would like to contact him directly and didnt see a contact number.
Thanks again,

The price is listed at $495 but I'm sure he'll honer the $450 deal if you call him up. The website should have a contact number.
I just replaced my OE top with the Robbins replacement with glass. Its the best way to go for the money. I did the install myself over a weekend and it tried my patience. The estimates I got for a professional install were anywhere from $500-700. You can find these tops on evil bay. Good luck.
