All federal gov't offices in DC, Arlington, and Fairfax (and I think some MD counties) are closed. All federal employees got the day off. Some of my contractor colleagues got the day off too because their contracts stipulate that they can't work if the gov't folk are off. Mine does not say that so I got to work even though my office in Fairfax and technically closed.

It took me a bit to find it again but this is the official guidance on the OPM site:
Unless you are a guberment employee, it probably doesn't mean squat but there it is. 
Inauguration Day, January 20, 2017, falls on a Friday. An employee who works in the District of Columbia, Montgomery or Prince George's Counties in Maryland, Arlington or Fairfax Counties in Virginia, or the cities of Alexandria or Fairfax in Virginia, and who is regularly scheduled to perform nonovertime work on Inauguration Day, is entitled to a holiday.

Yup, Erin gets off today as well as my mom, since they are both govies. Traffic seemed awfully light this morning though.
