My drive to work was kind of exciting in a bare knuckles, cold sweat kind of way.

We have an old hot point where excess beverages live. We had to defrost it right around thanksgiving as the freezer part of it was a solid block of ice and getting larger. All my shine was frozen in it and totally inaccessible.

I was driving a bit like a numpty so I slid a bit.
The traction control on the Alfa can't be defeated and I couldn't get it to activate so I explored a bit to see when it kicks in.
I found out how and when it kicks in.

Bobbie stuffed too many Christmas cookies in our freezer over the holidays. It got so bad the door wouldn't shut all the way if you weren't careful. This happened a couple of times, of course. I let it go because I figured the defrost cycle would get the ice that accumulated but it didn't and it had gotten so bad that the cold air couldn't get to the refrigerator part of the appliance. Ours has the freezer on the bottom and there is a channel that runs up the back that vents the air to the fridge. So while the freezer is full of ice, the fridge actually got warm.
I had to pull all the guts out of the freezer to expose the coil and then I put an old halogen work light on it to warm it up. Took about an hour for all the ice to turn to water. I put the whole thing back together, fired it back up and it started working like a champ.
Didn't take any parts and just a couple of hours of my life. Probably saved myself a several hundred dollar service call - if I could even find someone to come out my way. I'm considering it a win for the time being.

According to Google, a "numpty" is a a stupid or ineffectual person.
What? I had to look it up.
Go on...

Kind of reminds me of the time I tried to do donuts with Bobbie's WRX. Damn traction control sucked all the fun out of it and I didn't know how to turn it off.
