It's not about not shopping at all, or not spending anything.
It's about spending wisely, not buying unnecessary crap for people that don't really want it. It's about skipping the commercial consumerism for something more meaningful. It's about not putting yourself in debt just so you can buy more stuff. It's about not spending stressful hours in a mall, online, wherever and instead connecting with the people that are important to you. It's about getting back to the root of the season. It's about opting out of blind corporate-fueled consumerism and realizing that every purchase we make has an impact on the planet.
Buy locally. Buy renewable or recycled. Make smart choices. Make gifts. Do stuff with your family and friends instead of spending the time shopping til you drop.

but myself personally... Id rather not get any presents, or buy them for anyone else...
screw the money... Id save sooo much time and be able to focus more on my drinking habit, and the loose women at the many xmas partys.
