Continuing Aaron's statement, I agree that coming from Hondas, Subarus definitely don't have the same quality.

HMFIC 07-17-2013 02:44 PM

Aaron, what has happened for you to say that about subaru? I was really eying an STI but statements like that scurr me!

Man i would NEVER try Balut...There are just some things that shouldn't be eaten...

HMFIC 07-17-2013 02:47 PM

BTW...For those bikers in here..

The two bikes that peaked my interest were the FZ6R and the Ninja 1000...I was just talking about it Tues and low and behold...Was walking to my car and saw a white one in the very first parking space as if it was meant for me to see. Took a really good look at it and I must say. In person, it's not very pretty. I has disappoint.

following all this :iagree: window switch panel on the door broke probably 5+ time while I had the car. whole car is plastic and sub-par parts, both interior and mechanically. Head gasket leak common for decades, awd binds up common, they basically took a good idea and turned it into shit with crappy parts [/rant]

HMFIC 07-18-2013 04:22 AM

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
  • Power steering failure began at < 30K. (My own fault for not pursuing warranty repair.)
  • Wheel studs. What are they made of, plastic??
  • Interior plastics. What are they fitted with, a shoehorn and crisco?
  • OEM tires don't fit. Should OEM tires rub around corners? Should bottoming out the suspension result in fender contact?
  • I could think of more, but it's early.

i did not have any of those problems... all of my problems are old subaru problems (prior to toyota buy out)... head gasket... and age. i like the interior of my 04 sti. my wheel studs have been great.. even with track events on them. my oem tires fit fine even with dropped suspension...

e3opian 07-18-2013 05:46 AM

For all intents and purposes, you have a completely different car than Jeff (well, Bobbie), James (formerly), and myself.

Mocky 07-18-2013 06:12 AM

Hey.. hey.. (Man..I haven't been in the Mid-A HAW thread in ages).....

My coworker is going to DC for a little vacation and had a question about one of the roads.. Can anyone help?

A) I'm directionally challenged
B) I havn't been "home" or to the East Coast for that matter in 5 years...

Directions
Continue onto I-76 E
8. Take exit 161 to merge onto I-70 E toward US-30/Breezewood/Baltimore
9. Turn left to stay on I-70 E (signs for Washington D.C./Baltimore), Entering Maryland
10. Take exit 53 to merge onto I-270 S toward Washington
11. Keep right to continue on I-270 Spur S, follow signs for Interstate 495 S/North Virginia/Washington
12. Merge onto I-495 S
13. Take exit 43-44 for VA-193/George Washington Memorial Parkway/Georgetown Pike toward Great Falls Virginia/Langley/Washington
14. Take exit 43 for Geo Washington Memorial Pkwy toward Washington
15. Merge onto George Washington Memorial Pkwy, Passing through District of Columbia, Entering Virginia
16. Turn left onto Cameron St
17. Take the 2nd right onto N Pitt St
18. Take the 1st left onto King St
Destination will be on the right, Hotel Monaco, 480 King St. Alexandria

Travelling past the Pentagon, Reagan Int’l, etc.. on the Washington Parkway seems like it might take longer and be more congested. Would it make more sense to just stay on 495 and follow it down/around to to US 1/ Richmond Hwy? I could get off at US 1, head north and get to the hotel that way.

Mocky 07-18-2013 06:12 AM

I personally would stay on 495 and hit it during the off hours. Especially for someone that doesn't know DC roads.

Motoo! Long time, man!

I used to live a few miles from there. :hello: Too bad we moved. I still remember the time we all met up with you in DC. :D

There are tons of great places to eat near Hotel Monaco. Literally, King St is lined with amazing restaurants.
  • Pizzaria Paradiso (Good pizzas and craft beer. Happy hour specials.)
  • Landini Brothers (Nicer Italian dining.)
  • Bugsy's (Sports bar. Low key..)
  • Asian Bistro
  • Bittersweet (Try the breakfast bar one day. You pay by the lb. like a salad bar.)
  • Virtue (Upscale place with unique bar food and drinks you won't find any where else.)
  • Bilbo Baggins (A locals hangout with good food and friendly atmosphere. A bit of a dive.)
  • Restaurant Eve (Also fine dining. $$$ But, amazing food and unique house created drinks. If you like Vodka & Tonic / Gin & Tonic at least stop in for one at the bar. Ask for the house made tonic.)

Restaurant Eve and Virtue employ legitimate mixologists that come up with some pretty interesting drinks for their menu. Virtue's drink specials blend in each recipe to create something truly unique.

haha! no i have one. i'm part of an online husky forum... the mid-a section does monthly dog park meets so our huskies can play with other huskies (huskies play rough... so most other dog owners dont' want them near their dog). so as a solution, we decided to do monthly meets around the area. last month was in the baltimore area, so this month i'm going to have to travel.

How about yellow?

HMFIC 07-18-2013 12:05 PM

EXACTLY.

I'll be honest. Ever since i started riding...Cars just aren't the same anymore.

It's hard to fathom the idea of spending money on cars to get that power when i know i can just hop on a bike and have way more fun. It's not even the speed...I could go 10 mph Below the speed limit. It's just 10x more fun to ride. Just a different feeling.

I've not seen a yellow one in person. I'd have to see if it looks good or not. I've seen the green and white. But I love the white.

HMFIC 07-18-2013 12:09 PM

Either way. I got about another month or 2 to decide.

I got ONE MORE LOAN TO GO!!!! Then I'll make a decision if I get a bike or continue with the G. I've held off for awhile. This has gotta be a record or something. Hell, i've had this G longer than any other car i've owned minus the S2000! That's gotta account for something.

speed_bump 07-18-2013 12:18 PM

Yeah but you have actually had the G in your possession longer :)

Vadster 07-18-2013 12:20 PM

I fell off the wagon when I got rid of s2000 # 2. I had that car the 2nd longest.

Green is good.

I truly do love the G. Sandy wants to turbo it instead of me getting a bike. i know she's worried, but man...that's just money.

There is a dyno sheet at 12 psi pushing 651 whp. Not too shabby for that price. Her point is, the car has already had everything done. From the wheels, to suspension, to looks etc. So for a "safer" way of having fun and power, the turbo is something she wanted to do.
