Lost a drive in my home RAID last night, should I replace it with a another old drive.... or upgrade.
Depends on how far you want to go, redo the whole array?
Redoing the whole array is no problem, its just a, do I want to spend the money question. I generally upgrade when I can get single drives the size of my array for a reasonable price.

I went from 5x200GB drives to 5 x 1TB drives, so now I'm looking at 5x 4TB drives, but at $160 each thats a lot of money... 3TB is only like $100 each, but thats not as fun.

Why don't you get a little roku, or wdtv box or something like that, they use way less power and only cost like $40-$100. I actually use my PS3 for netflix mostly.

Since you're a Mac/iPhone user, consider the AppleTV.

I have about 400GB of MP3. That's not considering TV, Blu-Ray, and ... other media.
