The sole purpose of the c-clip would be to keep the bolt from dropping down when you pull the cotter pin, right? It doesn't need a machine fit, just enough to hold the bolt. The threads that are on the bolt should be enough to hold the c-clip.
Now... If you were using some sort of pin instead of a bolt, then you could be right. JB Weld is probably the more elegant solution but I worry about it holding up to repeated use.

So youd need a slot for the c-clip and a hole for the Pin. Ive got no prob with that set up. Or if it were a bolt and just using the threads.

They are white and i used them 1 time. I gotta make sure the new ones fit first though.

I agree. The tricky part will be finding the pins. There is the Intertubes but you will end up buying 1,000 of them just to get one.
