I should have mentioned that it only took me 30 minutes to run that far.

As you know Jeff, I'm all for serving one's country. Just do it for the right reasons.

I can run as far as 6 or 7 miles in an hour.
I usually only run that far on Fridays because I need at least two days off from the gym after doing so.
I know I am not in the best shape but I am working on it...
My diet is the hardest part.

My diet is the hardest part. although, you wont be able to taste it when you have 1 min to eat your food lol

That is actually what is keeping me from signing today.
I need to know what the odds are that I would be separated from Bobbie for an extended period of time. I am looking at career fields that are predominantly done in the greater DC area so that there is a high chance I'll get stationed here.
I know I will have to leave for training but I want a job in the DC area. That is key... If I can't get good odds on that happening, I won't join. Plain and simple.
Bobbie and I have talked about it A LOT in recent weeks. She is 100% behind my decision. No matter what it is... She is aware of the opportunities that come with service because she served herself. She is also aware of the risks. While she is not happy about what could happen, she feels (as do I) that the opportunities outweigh the risks.

Military discussion is now closed. Sorry.
The main reason I am considering the Army is because of my commitment to my country. I have told many people how much I regret not joining up in 1999 when I first considered enlistment. I honestly count that is one of the single biggest mistakes of my life and something I very deeply regret not doing. I do not wear my patriotism on my shoulder but I am passionate nonetheless. I assure you, I am doing this to serve my country.
The difficulty is that I am an adult now and I have commitments and obligations I cannot simply walk away from. I am a homeowner and I am involved in a nearly decade long relationship with someone I love very, very much. I am prepared to spend some time away from those things but I cannot survive if I am expected to do that for an extended period of time.
If my country requires me to serve in a foreign land for a year. Fine. That is the least I can do for the benefits received. Two years? Okay... More? Potentially problematic. I am aware of the fact that I cannot "know" these things but I am hoping that the experience of the recruiters will help me decide.
