it's a little more complicated. (internet)They run the fiber line to your house to a converter and from the converter they run a RJ-45 cable to your router. (cable) If you already have the internet, what they do is run a coaxial cable from the converter to your tv converter box (pretty much like cable)

To put it in perspective, my co-worker has the expanded service with the movie & sports package, two TV converter boxes, HD channels, DVR along with the internet and it runs him about $100.

Yea Dylan posted some stuff that clarified it for me... when I said modem...i was just referring to some sort of intermediary device that changed the optical signal on the fiber optic cable to a digital one over a cat 5 cable...
