The silver bit in that animation is the actual pin. It stays mounted to something under the hood (like Chip said... 0usually the radiator support). When you close the hood, the loop end of the pin fits into the catch mechanism. Close the catch at it grabs onto that pin and holds down your hood.

Yeah I saw that, just wasn't sure where it was mounted to. I'd rather just get an OEM hood, but the CF hood is there...I guess I'll just respray it along with the rest of the car.
