I'm not going to be able to ride on Thursdays at all this season... I've made another regular commitment that is going to get in the way. It is a paying gig so it isn't all bad but I'm going to have to get my mountain biking in another day.

I have always found that riding is good for my back. The jolts from some of the big bumps might be an issue but, in general, your legs support your body and cushion your back.
