Pete will say this is junk, but I think it would do ok based on the crappy 10w halogen I have now. (This thing should be about 2-3x brighter.)

Nice. I've researched quite a bit and never stumbled across those.

I bet that 1400 lumens it a bit exaggerated but even assuming 20-30% over and it's still plenty of light.

I wonder if having something that big on your helmet would get annoying looks pretty good otherwise. I really want a light for this fall/winter.

Helmet.

A helmet mounted light provides light wherever you are looking. A bike mounted light only provides light where your bike is pointed: not so great when you are turning.



Ideally, you should have a primary helmet light and a backup bike mounted light just in case.

I'll echo helmet mount. And Pete, I meant junk as in not enough light. I know you are a fan of L&M, but the SECA 700 is $$$$$$$.
