i really like the color scheme you picked out, as well as all the fixtures, lights, cabinets, tiles, etc. everything flows together very nicely and all the colors really complement each other. i like the contemporary feel also. did you hire a decorator/designer, or did you plan it all/mostly yourself?

We "hired" a professional designer (a friend's mother who basically volunteered) to help design the space - the walls, kitchen flow, etc. It was her idea to do the tile (and countertop) at the angle and she helped us figure out where the tile should go in the kitchen/entry/etc. She also came up with the windows in the wall idea, the niche in the hallway, and helped with the lighting plan.
The colors, the cabinets, the kitchen design, materials, lighting and styling is all between my wife and I. I think it helps that we're both designers (graphic & web) and share a taste for the modern.
