Just found this thread. Mark, I seriously would love to be a part of this in some way. Even if it were just a weekend helping with some heavy lifting. I have been doing reading aobut this... let me know.
wow, i just posted in a thread about this car over on drag. Personally, I dont like it. Every picture I see, it looks low quality. If you are looking for an over all package, There are much better kit cars out there. If you are just looking for speed, well, there are faster things out there.

I like the look, and I think the numbers speak for themselves. Faster than an Diablo with the standard L6 engine, so imagine with 560 or more hp? And the cheap looks could be your taste, it fits mine just fine. I appreciate your opinion though. But I think with the planned mods, along with a first class paint and body job, cheap it will not look.
I think it looks anything but cheap... It looks like pure sex. And the pride behind building it is unmatched. Mark, I just noticed your numbers above and I think you are way overestimating the budget. Of course it is better than underestimating.
How does it get much faster than 3.0sec 0-60 on pump gas? Much quicker and we're talking alcohol / serious FI / etc. I'd want it to remain streetable more than I'd want it any faster than that...

thanks, I agree about the sexy look, but also understand will's points. There are some trim items I have also noticed that do not look first class, but that is where me and a good body shop, seeing I do not have one anymore, can make up for those small negatives. It can be improved. The chassis and the powertrain are excellent frames to build a superfast +1g turning machine. I can see myself hitting the Dragon with this car at twice the speed we were running with the S2000.
Over did the estimates for good reason. I would first want the roush engine choices, higher end gearing, linkage, suspension set up would be race ready top quality, and same with the tires and rims that make it all stick. Paint, chrome, powdercoating, all will add to the cost. PLus paying others for certain work I cannot or do not want to do. I am rusty. I can paint the most beautiful paint jobs on cars, Global metal flakes, pearls, candies, etc. but so many new products I am not up on and new equipment, that I will just pay someone that has a great reputation in the business. Even if I have to ship it to the West Coast, or find a custom shop in this area. the final look will come from that work, trim, color, paint choice, epoxy, poly, whatever is best for that application. HOT HOT HOT... is a must on the paint, engine bay, I love chrome, just not too much to be gawdy.
The pride of building a car that not many people of attempted or had the balls to try... priceless. I want a car that everyone looks at and says "what the **** is that" or "it's a Lambo or Ferrari" ....the main reason for backing off the Lotus Viper Cayman option. There are a few around, not as exotic, and anyone can own one if they have money. This one is style points. Can modify in so many ways, change to a very aggressive set up or a ver daily driver set up if wanted. Race in NASA, and others, or just hit the Dragon wth my old friends and have some damn good fun, and drink some damn beer and tell stories. :lmao:

yea, part of it is the parts, but dave22 pointed out the lines and proportions, and I think thats a big reason why I don't think it looks like a quality car. It doesn't flow right to me, the front and the rear dont belong together. The front looks like a front engine car, and the rear looks like, well, a mid engine car, the 2 dont go together
They made a supercar kit, There are plenty of reasons why a z06 cost so much less then a ferrari, but is in the same league as far as speed. its the quality, workmanship, and attention to detail. Alot of the detail is going to be on you, but as car as quality, there is only so much you can do with the parts they give you.
I'd look around if I was going to be building one. How does this thing handle? I'm pretty sure that if I did this anytime soon, I would get an Ultima GTR. Its not a sexy car, and I dont think its trying to be, its a purpose built car. I guess if i was building a purpose built car, the finish wouldn't matter as much as if I was trying to build an exotic type car. The design of it says it wants to be exotic, but I haven't seen a picture yet that the quality and finish looked exotic, let alone the design. They might come out with the quality and finish of a factory car, but its not even close to exotic.
There is also the DDR, which to me, looks good. its proportionate, and its a serious car when its all said and done, if I could afford to do it right, get the finish right, I would build one of those too.
Well whatever you do, Good luck!

here is the DDR. The only complaints I have about this one as far as design, finish, and quality, is the wheel fitment, they are too small for the wheel well, and I dont think the offset is right. But I dont think those wheels come with the car. But look at the quality of the parts on this car, the lines.
