Default cold air intake system

Hey I'm new to the modifying game. I was wondering if a cold air intake system for my S would be a good idea or is it just a waste of money. And can anybody just shed a little light on it.(is it true it helps gas mileage) Thanks.

depends on what your looking for.

Power? What kind of power? Handling? What kind of handling? How much something is worth is relative. What kind of expectations do you have?

I think CAI is not gonna give you too much power for the dollar. these car require lots of dollars to start responing in N/A form. well from what I've seen

what about getting a cai just for the sake of having your engine breathe better...is that a good idea or is the stock intake of an s2k legit enough...

the amount of $$$ that this platform takes to modify requires a plan. a legit, serious, feasible plan.

the intake that was on my S retails at over $500-600. it would be foolish to purchase that, then decide to go turbo. or buy headers then go the turbo route. but if you're gonna go SC or ITB, then headers are a sensible choice. see how the plan will save money in the end?

honestly the stock motor is great, the intake and header are of very good design.

if you want the engine to breathe better andsave dollars, just get the k&n air filter for the s. You will be disappointed with the gains of even a 600 dollar intake. It's not like a civic where really good cais net over 10+ hp or something.
