when i got rear ended it happened to be a hit and run case...wasnt major damage but enough to cost more than what i thought...what my insurance company did was took into consideration the body shop estimates that i went with and using lowest priced and sourced oem parts and had their own appraiser come and do an estimate on the damage and they cut me a check for the entire total to fix including paint, labor and parts minus my deductible...but in your case ross his insurance company should pay for everything and like taka said you can speed up the process by taking care of it yourself and then other insurance company will reimburse whatever you paid provided you dont go extravagant and have and asm bumper and trunk and voltex wing and top secret diffuser put on there hahaha...if i recall correctly, insurance companies wont reimburse the price you paid for aftermarket products including body panels and will only pay for repairs at oem factory value
