Default Oil Change?

I bought my car new in november of 05. I want to change my oil since it has been over 3 months but there is only 800 miles on the car. I asked my friends at Redline what to do and they said since the car is new leave it in a little longer so the engine and its components has time to break in. Does anyone know when exactly should I change my oil and what oil to change to. Should I stay with oem Honda Oil or is Mobil 1 or another oil better. I also heard I cant use synthetic untill 10,000 miles, is that true. Thankyou in advance for all your help.

From Honda's web site, maintenance FAQs - Motor Oil FAQs:

Why should I wait to change the oil the first time?

Your Honda engine was delivered with an oil that is specially formulated for new engines that have not yet developed their "natural" wear patterns and may contain minute particles from the manufacturing process.

American Honda strongly recommends this special oil be left in the engine long enough for these wear patterns to develop, usually until the first maintenance interval specified in your Owner's Manual, based on your specific driving conditions.

If you choose to change your oil now, you should use conventional oil with a lot of moly. Texaco/Havoline is one of them.

Change whenever you want to.

As far as I know, Honda uses Penzoil.

Leave the stock oil in for at least 3k miles though. It does have some kinda additives to help your engine break in better.
