Default Riding on Bumpstops

Is it ok for a car to be riding on bumpstops? I have my Comptechs turned all the way down and my car is slammed. I noticed my rears are riding on the bumpstops. Can anything happen if I ride like this? (break anything) THe ride is actually soft and good. I noticed my shifting is kinda sticky now that my car is slammed. I dont know if a drop has anything to do with the gearbox.

I would think that emergency handling would be a problem since the suspension goes to "full stiff" too quickly. This could result in unpredictable handling over large dips.

If you are riding on your bumpstops, your springs and shocks does nothing when compressed. All energy goes to your chassie of vehicle. It is actually unsafe to be riding on them. Eventually your car gets sloppy and chassie gets weak. Extreme conditions, your shock will brake thru your shock tower on body of car. I have seen it happen. Not a pretty sight. Suspension has to have some play. I would suggest raise it up a little. If bumpstop is a fatty, you can cut it, it may do the trick. I know it feels all nuts when your car is all stiff and it drives like a go kart but in the long run it ain't good for your vehicle. As for your gear box delima, it's a mind trick. Just my 2cents.

I agree with devise808. Riding on your bump stops is very bad for your chassis and or vehicle body. I would not cut the bump stops for additional suspension travel.

Kev, good idea, I know it sucks, because your car probally looks super sick slammed down all the way, but it's for the better of your S.
