Default Shipping from the mainland?

Have any of you had to go through this? I arranged for my car to be shipped via Horizon lines. They quoted me a price and I arranged shipping the car to them via a car hauler truck. It's on it's way.

They sent me some paperwork today and it says the minimum ground clearance they can accept is 6". I looked up an S2000 today and it's listed at 4.2". However, even an Accord and Civic are under 6" and I know horizon has shipped those before.

Any thoughts?

i shipped via horizon, and they didn't give me any problems when i shipped. but that was about two years ago. it cost me $900 FLAT from long beach to honolulu. i had the vehicle transported via a flatbed hauler to the docks also. that ran me a few hundred more. i don't see why they wouldn't be able to ship it...

I already live there. I'm kind of over by the skate park. Where're you at?

Feel free to drive by my house sometime, I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be able to lower my car at all and still get in and out of my driveway.

Well that's good to hear. I'm lined up to ship with Horizon right now. I'm doing the same thing as far as getting it shipped to the west coast. It's $75 more than when you had yours shipped. Hopefully their policy hasn't changed and they'll still ship it.

Any other tips? So far I've got it down to
1) less than 1/4 tank of fuel
2) nothing in the car except a copy of the registration
3) ID of truck driver required for drop off

you should be ok with what you have listed. it's always a definite that the vehicle has less than a 1/4 tank of fuel; exceptions can be made if items are being shipped in the vehicle. i had the factory dust cover, soft top cover, and some other items stowed away in the trunk of the vehicle; registration and bill of sale if applicable, and yep, the delivery company has to release the vehicle to the shipping company. make sure that when you go to pick it up, you overlook the vehicle before taking it off the lot for any damages. you can compare it to the inspection sheet that they have from when the vehicle arrived prior to shipping it via boat. i had a small scratch that wasn't noted on the inspection sheet, and they covered that for me, no problem. but yep, GL on the receiving of the vehicle.
oh, and yeah, the driveways in mililani kinda suck because they're pretty steep. if you slam it, you'll have to surf it up, and you probably want to consider not putting a kit on it, because it'll get eaten up by your driveway going in/out of it. my car is next to earthed, but my driveway isn't all that bad.

yup pretty much what i did.

I saw they wanted the car 6inch high, but i told them mine is not. No big deal, my car is at stock height. I will tell you how it goes, my car is coming in late this month

S2000s come from the factory with spring spacers installed to raise the ride height. You could try to find some from a Honda dealer.

I'm not interested in slamming my car at all, but I'd like to drop it about an inch and a half.....we'll see.
