Default Tire replacement

When you tires wear down, what are you going to put back on and why? I've heard of many different tires recommended on the board. What I'd like to see is three categories for stock size tires:
high traction / short life (S02's)
med. traction / med life
low traction / high life

Now I understand that you should pick the tires based on how you will be driving the car, but there has to be a point of trade off. Like for me, I don't do a lot of hard driving, but would like to occassionally fly through a turn, so I guess that put's me in the middle category. What will you be choosing for your next tire, give the model # and why you picked this.

Since this is my "fun" vehicle, I'll go for the high traction. I went on www.tirerack.com site and it seems as though the new Bridgestone S03 tire is high traction and higher tread life than the S02s. However, the cost is also higher.

Rick, you could try the med/med option on our yellow car, I'm sure you'll notice the difference! There are more factors than simply dry grip, or lack there of. Turn in response, is affected by sidewall stiffness and this varies greatly. For example the Bridgestone RE-730 seems to offer similar grip as the BFG g-force KDW, but the MUCH sifter sidewalls made them VERY unrewarding to drive.

I'm about to purchase new tires for my s2k, and I'll be picking
up some s-02's. These tires are awesome. I admit that they
don't last too long, but that's the trade-off for having some
serious fun on the roads. I've had many other tires on my
previous cars, and I like the s-02's the most. excellant traction,
on turns and straights, even some pretty good traction in the
wet though I don't like to drive hard on the wet roads, it always
felt connected. If it's good enough to be on a Ferrari 360 Modena,
and 96' Porsche 911 Turbos, it's all good for me.

I'm going with the Michelin Pilot Sports through Cosco. I think they are in the category of higher wear and high traction, although not as much traction as the S02. Some S2000 owners on the mainland like them very much. I don't drive hard so the extra mileage and more confortable ride from more flexible sidewalls is for me. So far I have over 10,000 on the S02's and plenty of tred left.

Rstark,

I agree that tire brand mix shouldn't matter for less-agressive drivers. I guess we will find out.
