Default Update on Garmin windshield module development

Realizing that my time and ability to move this project along (see this thread; https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=335689&st=0) was getting in the way of progress, I've made arrangements for a group of engineering technology students at Oklahoma State University - Okmulgee to take this on as a class design and production project. I've shipped them a Nuvi, 2720, and S2000 roofrail garnish to worth with Since I'm headed out there next week to give the Spring commnecment address, I'm planing to meet with the faculty division chair working with the students to get this rolling.

They've got the right hardware and software to get this done and also have injection molding capabilities for a limited production run. While it's a little early to tell, if all works well with this project, my plan is to have the students take on design of the fog lamp project I've always wanted to do. See this thread for more info: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry4041583

I'm really happy that students at OSU-Okmulgee can get involved in this. It's a win-win for everyone, and my hope is that we can provide some funding for their Division out of sales of the things that students prototype and develop for the S2000 community.

BTW, OSU-Okmulgee is a wonder for techies like me. It's a technology-focused campus with both Associate and Baccaleaureate degrees, and its graduates are in high demand and get terrific jobs in a wide vareity of industries.

If there's an owner in the Tulsa or Oklahoma City area willing to drive to Okmulgee, we will need an S2000 for the students to use for test fittings along the way. Anyone who volunteers to drive his or her S2000 the OSU-Okmulgee campus for this purpose will get the Garmin Nuvi or 2720 and one of the first modules as a reward for assistance. If you live in the area and are interested, please email me at rick@ricks2k.com.

I am a little too far to be of much help (Seattle), however, I am interested in buying one when you get it figured out!

Ha! - you wouldn't say that if you'd ever seen that place!

Just some kidding from a guy from Texas.

Within a few minutes my original post, wickerbill, who lives in the Tulsa area, emailed to volunteer to be our Oklahoma rep for the test fittings at the OSU-Okmulgee campus, which about 40 minutes from Tulsa (or less if you're driving an S2000)

So wickerbill has already been signed up.

I just looked at your original thread and the fog lights look real nice. I'm anxious to see the final product.

Also what kind of brakes are you running in that picture. Those are pretty sweet looking, and probubly really light.
