Default Soft top rip at 10k miles!

So I was driving home today and I saw something odd on my top that looked like a black lump. I looked closer, and lo and behold, a rip in my top! My car only has 10,6XX miles on it!

I took a closer look and found out what happened--the metal piece circled in red has a sharp top. After feeling the other one, it seems like it wasn't properly filed/deburred/etc, and the metal piece shredded my top!

I really hope this is an easy issue for Honda to fix under warranty--I bought the car new less than a year ago. At one year for a garaged car, this is just not normal wear and tear. What do you all think, will this be an easy thing to resolve? Are there any steps I need to take?

i'm sure warranty will cover it, since it seems to be a defect from the factory.

I got the same problem at 13k miles. It's off to the dealer for us both., New tops and adopting one of the many preventative fixes posted around this joint.

I just checked mine and it's beginning to have the same problem. In that spot it's begining to wear thin and about to rip through. What should I patch it with before it rips?

Can you fix the 3rd image where you said you circled in red the offending piece? I can't see that image.

edit: nevermind it's being blocked because it's on myspace (yet the other two work fine..)

honestly i'd bet if you put duct tape on the metal piece and the shredded area you'd be fine.

others please chime in with a more eloquent solution!

i'm glad to at least hear it sounds like the warranty folks will most likely take care of it without any issues. i guess i'll be glad it happened now and not later...

I've posted about this wear spot before. Some guy in the UK section was the first to notice it. He wrapped the piece with some sailors tape, if i recall. I took a file to mine and used black duct tape on the top. It's always the passenger side one that's burred.
