You might check to see if a square of industrial strength Velcro would work. It seems that it would if the Velcro would stay in place after the top has been raised and lowered several times.

Out of curiosity, what year is your car?

My 05 has NO wear signs in that area after 36k, however, my buddy's 06 with 17k already has wear signs. I wonder if this affects all s2000's or just certain years.

I went to Home Depot and got a velcro tab and put it on the soft top. Easy fix and will eliminate any future tears there.

i went to dealer today and they ordered a new top under warranty. they'll call in a few days when it comes in.

i'm going to file or cover that metal on both sides after the top is replaced.

Yep you should be able to get it covered under warranty as I did. I filed down that area a little bit and made little black cloth booties for it.
