Default Menzerna Intensive Polish

Manufacturer's Product Description:
Menzerna Intensive Polish is unique because it actually removes swirls, like a compound, yet it minimizes or eliminates haze, like a polish. Unlike domestic compounds and polishes, Intensive Polish is water-based. It does contain a petroleum distillate but it's a lubricant, not a solvent. It will not soften or affect the curing of fresh paint. Also unique is the fact that it contains no fillers of any kind. In fact, it contains no fillers, no glaze, no wax and no silicones!
What Intensive Polish does contain are some of the highest quality and uniformly sized, milled abrasives in the world. These particles can polish out 2000 grit swirls and remove surface oxidation with minimal or no surface haze. Remember, Intensive Polish is removing swirls, not just filling and hiding them.

Price:
$15.95 (16 oz.) $25.95 (32 oz.) @ ProperAutoCare.com

Packaging Info:
Typical Menzerna square bottle with a flip up spout. The directions are rather short and lack detail.

Color/Scent:
IP is white in color with no discernable scent.

How I used it:
See the link in my signature to read up about the technique I use with the PC. I've used this polish multiple times but typically with an yellow or green Edge pad when more cutting action is needed or an orange Edge pad on cars with only light to moderate paint defects.

Thoughts:
IP is one of my favorite medium cut polishes. One or two passes with IP is enough to rid the paint of most defects. For this amount of cut one would expect the trade off to be buffer haze. However, when used with a polishing pad like the Edge orange pad this polish leaves little to no haze. On most light colored cars you can go from IP straight to LSP without using a finishing polish. When using a more aggressive pad like a green or yellow Edge pad buffer haze does occur.

Like other Menzerna polishes IP contains no fillers what so ever and has a very short working time. The downside with a less oily polish like this is that on a deeper defect you may want more working time and the polish dusts a bit. Also, the lack of lubricating oils often makes this polish a bear to remove. Of course the lack of lubricating oils makes this polish useless in direct sunlight. Also like other Menzerna polishes this one leaves a nice wet finish which is literally squeeky clean.

Aside from a lack of lubricating oils my only other complaint with this polish lies in the packaging. All Menzerna polishes come in an AWFUL square bottle with an AWFUL flip up spout. It's very difficult to get all the polish out of the bottle because of it's shape. So, I typically order this in a larger size and then transfer some to a smaller bottle for use.

Overall, this is one of my favorite medium cut polishes. It's strong enough to remove moderate to heavy paint defects, but gentle enough to create little to no buffer haze. It does have a short working time which is sometimes good & sometimes bad. Sometimes it can be a bear to remove too. Plus the Menzerna bottle STINKS!! However, it doesn't dust too much which is nice. I would also love to see them change the color of this polish. It's hard to see if I have worked it enough on a white car because the polish is white.

Before & Afters . . .

This is a test spot after using Menzerna IP and Menzerna FPII

It's definitely a great polish. However, the short working time and the fact that the residue is often difficult to remove have me continuing to look at other polishes.

I tried Poorboy's SSR2.5 hoping it was better than IP, but IMO it was not. I just bought Pinnacle XMT #2 & #3 hoping that they will be better than IP. I think #3 has a similar amount of cut, but I'm not sure. If they're not better then next I'll try Optimum Compound.
