Not much going on at work, so I thought I would post a poll. So are you a cat person or a dog person? Or maybe you like both or hate both. I personally like both but prefer cats. I'll leave you with an excerpt from "Meet the Parents" with Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller.

De Niro - "Greg, how come you don't like cats?"

Stiller - "I don't not like cats, I just -- I just prefer dogs. I mean, I'm just more of a dog kind of, you know -- come home, wagging their little tail, happy to see you kind of --"

De Niro - "You need that assurance? You prefer an emotionally shallow animal?"

Stiller - "I --"

De Niro - "You see Greg, when you yell at a dog, his tail will go between his legs to cover his genitals, his ears will go down. A dog is very easy to break, but cats make you work for their affection. They don't sell out the way dogs do"

I've lived with dogs for more than 30 years, and last July we got our first cat; when we get a barn for the horses we figure we'll need a barn cat to take care of mice and rats and whatnot.

The cat - still a kitten, really - is pretty cool, but I still prefer dogs.

As you can see we have one of each:

See avatar.

Actually, I'm thinking about getting a cat as a pet for my dog.

I'm okay with dogs, but most often they are not okay with me, and I have the stitches to prove it. Now I know not all dogs are mean, and I once lived with two Golden Retrievers and thought they were just about the perfect dog, but let there be no doubt, I'm a cat person.

Here are a few pics from a kitty I went to go see just recently. And let me just say, if I could afford to buy this Savannah I would be so happy, but I'm just not ready for such a handful of a cat yet.

That is a really cool looking cat!

Tedster has a couple of Bengals - I'd love one of my own. My wife is really into the idea of a Havanese dog right now... too bad they are $1,800 for a puppy.

I voted "I like dogs, but prefer cats."

Dogs are generally more interactive and a lot of fun to be around, but I personally identify more with the general personality and attitude of cats.

After a bad experience with a roommate and his cats i am still not fond of them.

I'll admit it's a blast to watch them hunt / stalk things, but at heart i am a dog person

this is Maggie

Here's a picture of my baby:

We adopted him a year ago from the Humane Society. If it was up to me, I'd go back & get him a playmate. However, I think Spanky likes being the "only child" in the house.

I got this email as I opened the thread so I thought I'd share

How To Wash The Cat!

1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water.
3. Obtain the cat and carry to the bathroom.
4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he/she cannot escape).
CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as the paws will be reaching out to maliciously lacerate anything they can find.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times (ignore the thudding on the toilet seat and the hissing, this is normal). This provides a "power wash and rinse" which I have found to be quite effective.
6. Have someone open the front or back door and ensure that there is no one between the toilet and the outside door (as this will result in their hospitalisation).
7. Stand as far behind the toilet as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet like an electrocuted maniac, and run outside spitting and screeching, where he/she will sulk until dry.

Sincerely, The Dog

Oh and Im a dog person and I own two french bulldogs. I've always been brought up with dogs like dobermans and poodles but I dont hate cats in general. I just hate other people's cats that roam the drains and pick on my sister-in-laws cat, these aren't feral cats just bad owners that show no responsibility.
