Default Ravelco Anti-Theft Device

Does anyone have any thoughts/first hand knowledge of this product. It seems to be a viable option for preventing auto theft, but I can't find much info on this product other than at the company's web site (http://www.ravelco.com/).

Everything that I have found in the way of a product review speaks very highly of the product and have yet to find any negative comments on the product. The company's advertisement that not a single car has been stolen in 27 years with this device makes me very skeptical though.

My mother's car (my former car) an integra gsr was stolen this weekend, stripped and then left in a remote location where it was found yesterday. The whole thing has me concerned about my own two cars including my wife's S2000. The S2000 does have an alarm on it, but I was thinking a device like this might prevent the car thieves from being able to actually drive the vehicle to a remote location and strip it down. At worse they break in and steal some stereo equipment which can be replaced.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks...Marc

Amazing how it's been out that long, yet they only have pics of them being installed in 2003+ vehicles

The "lock" is nothing more than a bunch of wires, a couple of which are pass-throughs for your ignition. Putting the cap on makes the connection complete. This is really stupid...I'd cut the cable and short every wire in the bundle. 100,000 combinations, my ass...

Here's the real give-away as to how savvy the sellers of this product are:

1. They claim "immobilizers" can be defeated in 20 seconds by inserting a resistor in the circuit. Ive not seen many resistors that send coded data messages.

2. They claim that by turning your wheels towards the curb you make your car impossible to tow. I guess they think steering locks are impossible to break and there is no such thing as a flat-bed tow truck.

Thanks for the comments guys. Just for the hell of it, I forwarded your comments on to the manufacture in response to some information they had sent me on the product. If they have anything interesting to say in response, I'll post it here.

On a more positive note, I'm just waiting on my Lucid DCI and I'll be installing a new system into the S.

Alpine 9807 headunit
Rockford Fosgate Fanatic Q components
Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4
Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 sub

I've already built a sub box for the tool well and it came out quite nice. I've cut out the spacers for the 6 1/2's as well and did a "dry" fitting. It was a pain in the a!!, but I got them to fit barely. The info I obtained on this board definitely has made things easier up to this point (box and spacers) and I'm sure will help to facilitate installation of all the equipment as well.

Ravelco provided me with the following response to my questions about their product:

"We are too busy to answer these questions. Sorry.

You might want to try all the other junk out there and then call us when they fail. Not trying to be a smart ass. These are the facts. Call any of our dealers.

Ravelco"

WHAT A BUNCH OF JACKA@@ES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
