Default pioneer avic-n1

I have a pre-order for a avic-n1, going into my 2000 boxster s.

The question I have is will they be able to bypass the dvd to play while driving or is it tied in the the dynamics (vs).

I can't find anyone who knows the answer.

Pioneer has a site set up for this unit.

www.avic-n1.com

By the way this is agreat site.

Thanks
Mark

Damn that looks cool. But I don't think you will find your answer here. Try the car audio forums.

Unfortunately, that won't fit in the S2000, but it'll look awesome in your Box.

Mark C...... I currently install pioneer audio/video equip. (thats my job) On all of their equip in the past and current, there is one green wire that is supposed to be hooked up to the parking brake.
When the parking brake is pulled up it sends a ground to this wire. The unit will not display a video picture until the green wire is grounded. You can permanently ground this wire to watch video while driving. I have not installed that particular model yet because it hasn't shipped but Im sure it will operate the same. The avic n1 is going to be the hottest av piece out this summer dvd player, navigation, performance meter and more for 2 grand retail!

My installer is worried that this particular system my be hooked up through the vs, not allowing the simple bypass of the grounding of the green wire.

He is trying to find out more detail, but has not been able to figure out yet.

If this is the case and there is no bypass I guess I will have to go with the avic-6500 and the avic-80dvd nav unit.

Does anyone know the difference between the 2 nav units, the avic-nq and the avic-80dvd.

Thanks,
Mark

why can't this unit fit into the s2k? can't you just do a custom job on the actual dash somewhere...instead of the DIN?...
