Can't help with the remote starter but just to say that I have been very pleased with the Catagory 1 alarm fitted as standard in the UK. Only one false alarm in 12 months plus the insurance companies love it.

I figured if I ever sell my car I should have the least amount of non factory electronics, or be able to at least take them out without any sign of them ever being put in. Factory Honda alarms are made by Alpine, so if you can find a good Alpine installer, he/ she can use the option button on the remote for just about anything including car starter. Good luck finding one that will put a starter in though (stick). My buddy will do it if you want come to MN.

I have seen a number of posts on alarms for the S2K. I assume that you do not feel comfortable with the key/disable feature that comes with the car? I looking at the car it is easier for someone to cut the top and get in rather than breaking a window. Have you looked at the Lo Jack system? Any comments?

MARKS2K has the neatest alarm I've seen. It has a radar emitter module inside the ashtray, which creates a protective dome. You can adjust the range of it so that if you put your hand inside the car only a couple of inches, the alarm will go off. Considering it's almost impossible for anyone to steal the car by driving it away (it would have to be flat-bedded), the obvious area where you want protection is the interior. Mark's alarm is the best solution I've seen. It cost him about $500 installed through a buddy, and about 2 days trying to figure out how to wire it into an S2K. Not sure if there is an outlet for this type of alarm in Canada though. This is the next mod I'm having done to mine. Luckily I live near L.A. (Mark's territory.)

Both the Clifford and Viper alarms have Proximity sensors.

Alot of people on this board swear by the Clifford. I have seen a pic where it is placed under the elbow rest.

I have the Viper and since the sensor is larger, I have it mounted in the glovebox.

I got a Clifford alarm - I can't remember the model but it's the one with the dual stage radar sensor to detect movement in the cabin. It's also got a sensor that can detect if someone tries to jack the car up (i.e. to either tow it away or steal the wheels). Absolutely love it. Doesn't have remote start, and I honestly wouldn't recommend it for a manual tranny - most places will refuse to install remote start on these for that reason... good luck!

I have a Clifford also.

They went out of business...so I don't know what to do with the warranty.

Unicron,

They didn't really go out of business.
They got bought out by DEI (Viper, Python, etc)
The products still exists and warranty is still covered.

These were also my concerns when I considered the alarm, but I found out that they are still around.

I didn't go with the proximity radar, because I was advised against it. They told me of numerous false alarms.

But I love everything else about the Clifford.
I've gotten stuck a couple of times by putting in the wrong code, or forgetting to put it in at all, but its worth it.
