Default AVOID Checkered Flag In Va Beach

WARNING: This will be a semi-long post

I've taken my car to this dealer a couple of times. I've told them several times that my 2nd gear was grinding. They told me that me that they couldn't duplicate the problem, blamed me (misshift), and didn't investigate further. Well, I took my car to Ganley Honda in Ohio (for a different installation that this shop refused to do) and while there, they took a look at the 2nd gear. Eventhough they couldn't replicate the problem, they investigated further (they figured that a compliant going on that long desereved to be looked at). Guess what they found when they took out my tranny? I had bad synchros causing the grind. They were replaced and the car had not grinded once since then. Now to the current situation. I took my car in to get the tranny and diff fluid changed. While they were there, I asked if they would take a look at the heatshield near the cat-back....it was rattling. I got my car back and it still rattled. They said it was it the aftermarket exhaust (they are 110% mod unfriendly). To boot, they charged me $45 ( 1/2 hr labor) to look at it. Is the tech a retard? They're saying it took 1/2 hr to investigate the exact problem I told them about. When I asked the service advisor about this he snapped "look it takes time to diagnose the problem, that's what you're paying for" .
In the end, the service department is the WORST that I have ever dealt with. I don't car how far I have I to drive, I will not go to them again......for anything. (BTW, they lost out on 1600 bucks worth of service to Ganley Honda). Anyone in the Hampton Roads area have any suggestions? Hall? Williamsburg Honda? etc.
Thanks

NOT Hall...as mediocre as the service is at CF I'll still go there because if I ride them enough they'll do what I want. Hall is full of liars and thieves.

I do agree that most of the folks there (not salespeople ) are morons. I had a service writer tell me the car was not built to be revved past 5000rpm!

Anyway, my bottom line is this:

1. Locally there isn't a better place.
2. Although it takes some fighting on my part, I eventually get what I want.
3. I could start a much worse thread about Hall

Have you ever purchased a vehicle from them? Perhaps only condemning the Service Department is appropriate.

BTW, I didn't know you had an aftermarket catalytic converter. What kind?

I know you don't. My point is that an aftermarket exhaust has zero to do with the cat-converter with the exception of where the two join. The shield above the cat is just that... it covers the cat. I know... I tried to polish the S.O.B.!!!

I'm going to jack the car up this weekend and see if I can tighten it or something.

I had a strange rattle from that area that turned out to be the magnaflow resonator on my first spugen exhaust. I had it re-welded to the pipes and the problem went away. With your car cold, reach under and smack the resonator and listen for a vibration.
