Default Dashcover

Hey, I know dash covers on the whole are pretty cheezy. However, in the interest of preserving my dash (from sun and whatever else), I would be willing to use one.

Anyone know where I can get one?

I'm searching this forum for a custom dash cover for the S also. No luck with the search function.

A little help?

but won't the dashcover cover collect more dust and dirty when you are driving top down?

i just use 303 for the dash. works well for me.

and they claim 303 has UV protection also. so it's like putting sun block on your dash ...
well, close enough.

Stockea92, I use that too, but I have no idea if it does a thing besides make the dash shinier. I know a cover would protect the dash. My mine concern here in FL is the "bubbling" of the dash from the sun's heat that I read about here from longer term owners. I park in the full sun 6-8 hrs a day 5 days a week. I guess I could always get one of those windsheild/dash protectors, but I hate carrying the thing around in the car.

Try
http://www.shearcomfort.com/seatcovers/pro...Dash-Covers.asp

or

http://www.dashmats4less.com/

or

http://www.saddleman.com

The dashmat doesn't come in the ultimate mat but does come in the velour and regular dashmat. You can even get it Monogrammed or have a silly Logo put on it.

Good Luck

If you're worried about bubbling of the dash, a dash cover won't help. The bubbling on my dash is caused from the heat of the engine seeping through some uninsulated holes. I'm going to have to take mine back in to get it fixed. A lot of us have this problem.

Thanks both Marks. I'm shocked to hear the dash bubbling is caused by engine heat. That's the first I've ever heard of that on this or any other car. If it's true, then a dash cover may actually exacerbate the problem.

Another member on this board was told that, after he got his dash replaced because of bubbling. RHES2K had his dash replaced when he got the seatbelt recall done. He was told that some insulation was left out. They made sure to put the insulation back in before putting his new dash on.

You can feel the heat of the engine coming through the drink holder. That same heat is what's causing these bubbles. Ever notice how the bubbles are only in certain places. Mine is right in front of the steering wheel. Everyone that I know thathas these bubbles has them in the same place.

MarkS2K, is this lack of insulation a systemic problem or is it present in an unlucky minority of cars? I want my holes plugged ASAP if it's a manufacturing oversight. I always thought the heat in the cupholder was coming from the gearbox.

Charly,

Not sure if this is a sytematic problem or not. So far, I've only seen the bubbles on a few cars (mine included).
