OK, I'm certainly no prude and I love scantily clad chicks as much as the next red blooded American boy whose body is coursing with testosterone.

But, I have noticed that there have been a lot of threads and signatures lately that our lady folk might have a little trouble with.

Think about the audience here...yea, mostly guys, it's a car thing...but chicks are here, too. And some threads and sigs I have seen lately may make a new female a little less likely to participate in things S2000. And that would suck...

So, watch what you post...it's free speech for sure, but use it with taste and dignity...

And no, I'm not a moderator, community organizer or anything like that. I'm just a guy who uses this site for car stuff, OT stuff (mostly, these days) and it's a great resource for all of that. Just make sure that what you post is in good taste...and yes, while half naked chicks may be in good taste on www.ott-topic.net, it's a little less that what should be expected here.

Carry on...

I totally agree with you Greg...

I would hate to get FIRED from my job because of this forum, please keep it PG!!!

Like Cthree said in an earlier post regarding some firewalls blacklisting certain sites...they don't do that here at my work...they just fire the individual...not blacklist..

I would like to say that I've only once posted a picture of a naked woman and the general concensus was she was not considered to be provocvative or titillating, so I submit she didn't count!

Seriously, I've been involved in all the kidding and leg-pulling as much as anyone over some of the pics and sigs. but until cthree pointed out in another thread that people's jobs were threatened by some of these pics. being picked up by firewalls's at work, it was something I hadn't considered. There's plenty of places on the net where you can see that sort of stuff (I'm told) so I agree, lets get back to a little sanity.

My concern, well, it's not even really a concern...I was just trying to promote a little awareness that what you post may be taken by the female population of users here. I have seen a lot of ladies come and go...I miss that and I think that part of the reason is because of some of the recent threads, etc.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am as NON-PC as they get, but having a little common decency towards others, especially chicks, goes a long way.

That's all, not complicated...

Excellent post.

As a member who has made one such "questionable" post recently, I appreciate you candor on the subject. While I'm a proponent of free speech, and critical of censorship, I also agree that because this is a car forum we should use good judgment in our posts.

PS. From now on I'll only post naked pictures of spiders!

Greg, I've tried to allude to this in another thread. It's like talking to a brick wall. All that resulted was "cries of censorship", "delete the sig", "put on ignore list if you don't like it", "fighting the system" (paraphrasing). You'd make more headway reasoning with a spud! Some folks just don't get it! Never will.

I think preserving decency (or whatever we have left) is probably a good idea. Fun and games are all good, but at the same time as an enthusiastic community we should respect women and other things in general. We just can't forget about that.

That's why we have subject heads. If a person wants to post the "Hottest girl ever!!" thread, let them be. Or the "Hottest guy ever" thread, same thing. So many people I have found complain about a certain thread and I always wonder why that if he doesn't like it, why does he read!!!??

It's a good point that people should be decent, but there is a difference between decency and censorship. And I'm not saying that's what you are saying Greg, but there is a fine line. Hell, we can't even talk about politics here which I think is a big form of censorship! I'm surprised we can post the picture of the American flag here just in case it OFFENDS someone on the board!!

To me, it's up to you what you want to read, not the moderators!!

And the last time I checked, women don't like to be called chicks!
