Help! Clicking noise in the engine
I was pushing the car rather hard for about 15 mins when I came to the lights at a dead stop the engine shut off on me. I had to re-start it and ever since, I hear a clicking sound coming from inside the engine. It is more noticable when driving but still can be heard if idling.
Anyone know what might have happened?

I hope I'm wrong, but you could have cylinder scoring requiring a short block replacement.
This thread is a good place to start. See the dealer. Keep us posted.
Do a search for "#4" and you'll find quite a bit.

Private mail me if you need more help.
Check your dipstick too. Honda used to think low oil contributes to the #4 cylinder failures. I know of a couple exceptions which makes me doubt it.

Barry,
Will Honda honour the warranty if I was low on oil?
I just checked it and it was low. I topped it up and will have to take the car in. Any advice on how to handle it?
Thanks

So far, Honda has covered the cost of every #4 cylinder failure that I know of. Several were low on oil and done as a "courtesy repair" and most were done just as a straight forward warranty repair.
Mine was not a drop low on oil so I know it can happen without it being low.
What mileage do you have on yours? 2000 or 2001? VIN#?
Take it in to your favorite dealer and just tell them what happened. If it is a #4 cylinder or something similar, it will sound like the tapping of a misadjusted valve, but it is louder over the exhaust manifold than over the valve cover.
My dealer first ordered a new valve cover gasket and then removed the valve cover to see if it was a valve misadjustment. It was not. Then Honda-Techline told him to pull the plugs and inspect inside the cylinders with a "bore-o-scope" which is a fiber optic device to look inside the cylinder through the spark plug hole. My #4 plug was blackened while the others were not. The inside of the cylinder looked like the pictures in Jason Saini's thread.
Then Honda techline approved the repair. The repair involves pulling the exhaust system, transmission, engine and then taking off the top half of the engine (valves, cylinder heads etc.) and replacing the lower half of the engine or short block (cylinders, pistons, crankshaft, etc) and then putting it back together. Mine took about 3 weeks from diagnosis to full repair. The shop time is almost five days and the cost is about $11,000 which Honda has covered for everyone so far.
You might have something less serious. I hope so. Please do keep us posted.
Here's a link to Jason Saini's thread from December which showed the damaged cylinder. I took a printout of this thread to my dealer and it helped him with the problem.

No one who has had this and has had low oil has had the oil light come on, except cde who had low oil because his oil filter was damaged and spewed oil.
Remember, it is fixable. My new short block has 2,000 miles on it with no problems. I think this is like a 1 in a 1,000 problem.
