I just can't understand it!? (Long, as usual.)
It's one of those Bobby McGee types of days (you know, "windshield wiper flapping time ......... "), steady rain, pools of water here and there. Thought I'd see what all the fuss is about with this car and SO2's so I drove somewhat aggressively to find out. It was my early morning drive to work, few cars on the road. Tried taking off from a light with heavy throttle, spun the tires and all for about 50 feet - nothing, the car just went straight.
(Funny, my hands just automatically input the correct steering when the backend began to go even slightly sideways and my gas foot just knew how much was too much. Damn, I wish I'd driven FWD exclusively before this car.
Then I purposely hit every pool of standing water I could encounter and again - nothing.
Somehow, my mind instinctively told me to NOT make any sudden inputs to the car while going through the pool. I even forced myself to gas it right through the pool and geez, still nothing. Again, my hands and feet just did their own thing out of reflex.
I went through a couple of wet curves, too. Stomped on it midway and dog gone it, my hands and feet wouldn't let the break away get away. Again, nothing.
Oh well, there's always the drive home later. I'll try having the cell phone glued to my ear or maybe I'll try to have an erotic daydream to see if I can lose a bit of concentration. At worst, I'll schedule myself for a frontal lobotomy and try again next time it rains. I have just got to learn how to drive waaay beyond the capabilities of my tires, my car and me. I'm soooo depressed.
How do some of you guys spin this car out anyway?
Maybe I've got a "bad" set of SO2's. Maybe Honda slipped me a lemon and this car is actually FWD!
Funny thing, come to think of it, my old Viper must have been defective too. 400 HP and 275 & 335 tires on that thing and I never spun it either. I just don't understand it.
(ps. Gone fishing!
)

It seems that you understand perfectly well.

holy cow! in two days I will have my registration aniversary.
Windscreen wipers "slapping" time. Sounds like you have too much experience, x.
Your instincts have learnt over time not to do DUMB things. I wonder how may of the negative incidents you are alluding to would have occurred to the same driver in a different vehicle?
