I always appreciate everyones feedback. I will be buying a radar detector over the next couple weeks, and it certainly seems most people on this site swear by the Passport 8500. Would you guys read about the Viper II and tell me what you think? I know the brand name is not as proven, but the fact that it jams all signals for about the same price seems unbelievable to me. Does anyone out there use jammers? I know, I know...if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Here's the link. www.radar-laser-jammers.com and click on Viper II. Thanks!!!

Oh crap, here we go again. These things do not work. Do a search for LIDAR in the New England forum to see our arguments there and some of the engineering involved in proving their uselessness. Also, it should tell you how well these systems work if they're only willing to offer ticket refunds for tickets less than 15 mph or 30% over the speed limit, whichever is LOWER...for highway driving you wont see many cops blink if you're not doing at least 10 over.

I think you might find a more 50/50 split with s2ki members on the Passport 8500 versus the Valentine V-1. I'm a V-1 fan myself.

- this has been beat like a dead horse. Do a search on Google as well. They have great articles all over the web that these don't work, improve the range of the police radar and certain models may violate federal laws.

Ok--Sorry if this question was also asked before, but can anybody actually hear their detector go off when the top is down and the radio is on???

Yes, I can hear the sounds from my detector. Even at highway speeds with the radio at full volume.

Upgraded speakers and head unit...no problem hearing the V-1.
