Scangauge II - has anyone used one?
Has anyone tried a ScanGauge II on their S2000? Got any pictures of how you have it mounted?
The web page for the company is here and it looks to be "a trick bit of kit".
A scan tool, digital gauge, and trip computer all rolled into one.
[I][B]Scan Tool
The ScanGauge II can check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and if found, can display how many there are and the Trouble Codes themselves.Using the internet or repair manuals, these can be translated to the failed component and repairs can be made.
Data captured when the Trouble Code was set can be recalled to help troubleshoot the problems (was the temperature hot or cold, speed high or low, etc.). The ScanGauge II can be used to clear the trouble codes and data which will turn off the warning (Check Engine, Service Engine soon, etc.) lamp.
Some states now require that vehicle self tests have been completed since the codes were last cleared, before running emissions checks. The ScanGauge reports this "Readiness".
Digital Gauges
The ScanGauge II can display up to 4 of 12 possible gauges at one time. The units of measure can be changed and the rate of update can be increased or decreased.

I think my new scangauge may be defective
The TPS and LOD (throttle position and engine load) readings stay at 0. Then when I did a reset of the gauge they starteed "working" but then stopped at a non-zero number and just stayed there.
Anyone else with one in an S2k - can you confirm these items work as expected on your car?
Thanks,
Dennis

Sometime during the setup I set it for update speed "fast" rather than normal or slow. Seems the computer in the S2000 can't keep up with fast ALL the time so will cause problems like I was having . I set it back to normal speed communications and all is well in SGII land.
This thing is SO cool. I took a trip over the weekend and the miles to empty tank and MPG where just about spot-on and I have only done a couple of tanks to "train" it. The trip computer is interesting too since you can see your max speed, RPMs, etc for your last or prior trip. You set the gauge to water temp so you will know when the motor has warmed up enough to rev it up - or watch voltage or engine load or MPGs or whatever.

They have an add-on coming that should be out "any day now". It plugs into the 2nd port of the SGII and then you plug any size SD card into it (the larger the more it can store). Then it stores the info as you drive, then you hook up the storage unit (or maybe the SD card?) to your PC and the included software will download all the data.
I have a Davis Instruments Drive-Right car chip that I keep in my son's car (teenager). It is self-contained and stores everything in the chip. Once every few weeks we pull it and download the data to see where he has been, how fast, etc. Since he knows "Dad" is watching he seldom has much in it for me to fuss about. The chip records every time it is removed or installed in a car, so if he tries to pull it, go joy riding, and replace it I will know
