Default HELP!!!! wiring sub...i think i am an idiot!!!

Hi guys....i have a 2 channel amp that does...

4ohms stereo 150*2
2ohms stereo 210*2
4ohms mono 420*1

Now...the sub that I got is Alpine 10" type R DUAL 4ohm voice coils.
Can I (and if I can how), hook up this sub to this amp????

I think I am retarted for getting this sub unless you guys can make it work.

Amp is Audiobahn A2601T (class AB)

Thanks for the help guys......AGAIN!

I'm not an expert, but why can't you switch it to Mono and run the sub off of it???

you can wire it up either in series or in parallel, but either way it will be running in mono. which way do you want to wire it?

series: wire a positive on one coil to amp with negative on other coil to negative on amp, and connect a wire between the + and - that aren't wired to anything else.

parallel: wire both -'s to the negative on the amp, wire both +'s to the positive on the amp.

I wouldnt' recommend parrallel because you'd be running at 1 ohm and your amp might cut out when you turn it up high. In series you'd be running at 8 ohms, so you'd get like 8 ohms mono at 210 watts.

um - well, i think his problem is that the amp isn't stable at 2 ohms mono? while according to sound domain's website, it is stable at 2 ohms and outputs 420Wrms.
HOWEVER, according to Audiobahn's website - this amp is NOT 2 ohm stable, but outputs 420Wrms x 1 @ 4ohms.

looks like Sounddomain made a goof... the only way you can use that amp w/ that sub is to wire the sub up in series and present a 8 ohm load to the amp. this setup will probably allow the amp to send the sub a total of about 210Wrms (estimating), which would be split between the voice coils at about 105Wrms / voice coil.

Do you think that It would be a lot easier for me to switch the the DUAL 2ohm VOICE coils???

I want my amp to be at 4 ohms mono pushing 410 watts. If the Dual 2 ohm voice coil will solve the problem than that it what I want to do.

yes, if you have a dual 2 ohm, you can wire that series to a final load of 4 ohm and that would match the peak load for the amp.

you have 2 choices:

1. Wire it in stereo..one channel to each coil or

2. Wire it in series and that will make your amp see a 4ohm load in mono.
