They were talking about this track when I still lived there.

Yep, finally passed. I've been hearing all the whiner's BS here in town forever.
Tulare has a track in the works too. It's 700 acres versus the 1200 acres of RMP.
Funny thing is, there are alot of nascar fans here that completely back it up and it's in the news that there will be NO NASCAR events, lol.

Update, it is said to be at least a year and half before they can actually build anything. So running around ANY track is still many years away.
This is because they still need have numberous oks for various things still from both county AND state. In addition, federal bureau of prisons flew into merced and pretty much tried to strongarm merced county. Pretty much what they said was, build the track and we will sue. No negotiations, that's it. Pathetic part is, the track does NO intrude on the prison's property. As a matter of fact, the land has NOTHING to do with the prison whatso ever. They are actually against ANY development of those 1200 acres. Why? Because the feds said they want to develope the land for their own prison usage SOMEDAY in the future.
Then to make matters worst, Foster Farms also said, build the track before we finish negotiations with RMP and we will sue. RMP has offered MANY things to Foster Farms but it seems Foster Farms still wants the world from RMP. Foster Farms also states that it will negatively impact and potentially destroy their chicken ranch amoungst other ranches and farms nearby.
Here's my question to the farms and foster farms. How the hell can your family have ranched or farmed your property for 5+ generations and be destroyed by cars racing around a track once a week? Especially when Castle was formerly Castle AIR FORCE BASE, where they flew B52's out of daily minutes apart, 7 days a week for years and years and years during your farming/ranching days? I mean they flew MORE than B52's! And they flew OVER your property every few minutes hundreds of feet above your farm/ranch. Those things are LOUD! Hell, I lived about 1/8 miles from our base run way in a HUGE multi-story solid concrete/brick dorm and it shook everything and that was from the smaller KC-10!
