Hi all,

Being a new S2K owner, I'm having a hard time finding a convenient place for my cell phone. In previous cars, I've always been able to stick my phone in a convenient cubby or cupholder forward of the driving position for easy access. Of course, in this car, I don't seem to have that luxury. Keeping the phone on my belt clip is too awkward to access and gets in the way of the seatbelt lapbelt. I'm wondering what all you other cell phone folks do? For now, I'm just throwing the phone on my passenger seat when I'm passengerless.

Is there some kind of an accessory out there? (I don't want an accessory that would mar/require permanent modification to the interior such as drilling or sticking something permanent to the car).

I did a search on phones and couldn't find anything...

I saw one guy stuck velcro to his phone and to a piece of plastic then wedged it under the shift surround. Looked like the no damage solution of choice.

I stick mine in the glove compartment, since I don't like
to talk on the phone while I drive, and it keeps the CD
cases from moving around in there when I'm cornering

If you want to keep yours within easy reach, you can go to
an asian food store and they'll have stores there that sell
phone holders that you clip on your AC vents, comes in
several flavors of plastic.

Or you can try this thing:

says it'll hold under a "Rector Scale 4 Shake"
might not want to stick a bottle of rum on there though
and it doesn't seem to be something that you stick on
permanently.

It would seem, from the pictures I've seen from some of other posts, that the center column on U.S. cars is considerably different to European S2000's. On mine, there is a square hole just behind the shift knob (alongside the handbrake), which had an ashtray in it, but when this is pulled out, forms a cupholder. As any coffee I might drink here fits in a thimble size cup & blows your head off, I don't use this hole for coffee cups, rather drop my Nokia into it. The earplug wire from the bottom of the phone I then attach to my seat belt about chest high. If the phone rings, I grab the bit hanging down, stuff it in my ear, press the little knob on the mic which hangs near my mouth....and, I'm in business. A bit fussy, the wire thing, when getting in & out of the car, but it works fine...even with the top down.

My Motorola V8160 (digital Vadar) has found it's home in the coin tray behind the cupholder. My wife & I have the same phone; they both fit standing upright. When she's not with I just keep Rick's Knob Sock in there.

I have put a small magnetic phone holder on a plastic ruler squeezed in under the center console. A small adhesive metal plate goes on the back of the phone if necessary - or in my case inside the battery lid. The ruler/holder can also be moved to the other side under the p-brake handle (sometimes with sprited driving the knee hits the phone). Click the picture below for a few more.

You can also see some other mods in the pictures: Rick's leather console cover and shift boot, Muz's one-piece floor mats and a VooDoo titanium shift knob.

I put mine in the little space behind the cup holder(aka gas receipt holder) My phone is tiny so it fits there without getting in the way of shifting.

I put mine in the door handle. You don't need the door handle once the door is closed, right? IF the top is up you can put it between the metal frame above the windshield and the fabric of the convertible top.

Velcro on the stereo door, headset hanging off the mirror.

Here's a picture with phone flap open.
