I used to put my phone in the cupholder, I am able to close the door too, but recently I have been using the net pocket on the passanger side of the center console. My wallet and garge door opener goes there too.

The magnet idea works pretty good. Most cell phones have metal-cased batteries. The console is steel. A magnet opportunity if I ever saw one.

I put a neodymium-iron-boron (rare-earth) magnet ($2 - $4) UNDER the carpet on the side of the console. I used the kind you can take out of an old hard drive, because it has both N and S poles on the face of the magnet. This way, it actually gets stronger by having a steel backing plate (the console) behind it.

It is completely hidden behind the carpet and holds the cell phone tightly. Just "stick" the phone to the right spot on the side of the console and it stays.

I've also used this type magnet, glued to a $1 coin holder, to hold the coin dispenser on the top of the console. I also have another magnet like this on the side of the console (under the carpet again) to hold a small multi-function knife. Always there when you need it.

I've autocrossed with the coin holder and knife in place and you can't shake them loose!

Only problem is that I just changed to a Nokia 8260 phone, and it has a plastic-cased Li-ion battery - no stick So I put the phone in the leather case, which has a steel belt clip, and stick the case to the console. Perfect!

If you don't have an old hard drive to scrap, go to ebay and do a search for "rare earth" or "NIB" or "neodymium". Several people sell them, and usually have links to web their sites too.

Garage door opener? Want to get rid of that thing? Check out my fix for the garage-door-opener blues here.

Don't they have that "Photoalbum Beta" app up and running? You could use that.

Here is the link to the thread.

i got a leather case when i got my phone, i figured it would be more convenient, it got a little uncomfortable when driving and trying to take it out when i got a call...so one day, when the top was up, i looked up and saw a velcro-type strap above my head...i now put the clip from the leather case onto my velcro-type strap, and it didn't cost me anything

i hope no one else said this same thing, or else i'll feel stupid

I've got a motorola startac. When I don't feel like keeping it on My belt, I use the holder and clip it to the seat belt down near my hip. It's almost always set to vibrate and I can feel it go off and just reach over and grab it.
